Rami Al Ali returns to Paris for the 15th season to showcase his SS19 Couture collection at the beautiful Salon Pompadour of Hôtel Le Meurice.
This season Al Ali takes us on a cultural journey to Al Andalusia to draw us a dreamy painting of some of the most beautiful folkloric traditions in history: Matadors, Flamenco dancers and a fiesta of colors, recreating the traditional Carmen.
This collection comes to life with intricate yet strong details. From Metal Chains replacing the traditional tassels to embroidery of crystals and jewels and floral motifs, all elements come together to mimic the Matador’s costume, Trajes de Luces.
Silhouettes and cuts were kept feminine, maintaining the brand’s signature in each collection, yet reflecting the dramatic aspect of the inspiration from body-hugging cuts to reintroducing the Flamenco dancer’s high waist pants. Layers of tulle were brought together to create the beautiful volume of the Flamenco dress while other luxurious fabrics such as Mikado and Satin de Chaise were used to add romance through ruffles and other details.
Shades of Champagne can be seen across the collection as the main palette, while the dramatic fusion of Fuchsia Red and Fire Orange creates a strong feminine effect, completing the designer’s vision.
Rami Al Ali’s paradoxically opposing merge of traditional techniques, modern designs and historical inspiration creates the ultimate work of couture art.
